About
I began learning about the web in the early 90’s when I went back to college. In 1994 I went to work for a major telecom company and was soon exposed to interactive technologies including webmail and early interactive websites.
In the late 1990’s I built a site to house my departments excel and MSAccess based reports so that all staff and management could retrieve the data they needed. Around 2000 I managed a project which required the development of a web based reporting system which obtained data from several data warehouses. WebFOCUS from Information Builders was a key component of the self serve web application that provides interactive reporting for all levels of management.
My interest in photography also led to further development of my desire to build web sites. Photo gallery software and Flickr had not yet become readily available on the web, so I designed my own sites to showcase my work. This quickly led to a small part time business building sites for other photographers.
After much reading and development experience I recieved a request to build a site for a new racing product, Traqmate. This site development challenged me to take the next leap into my web development business and forced me into more of a professional approach to design, implementation, and client management. Shortly afterward I decided I would keep my focus on small business and individuals and maintain a reasonable price.
As my client list has grown so have my skills. Countless hours have been spent in forums, reading books, surfing the web, and testing my knowledge in real world applications. Every client has different needs and has thus exposed me to a variety of challenges to overcome.
I wish to express thanks to all the expert web developers in the world who share their knowledge and expertise with those of us who desire to make the web a better place to visit. I have created this site as a resource for those seeking to become better developers or designers.
